About the team

The Estate Management division makes financial and legal decisions for people who are unable to on their own, or with support, when NSW Trustee & Guardian is appointed as their financial manager by a court or tribunal. The team also oversees people who are appointed to privately manage the finances of another person.

The division delivers high-quality financial management services using a customer-centred approach and is delivered by our Customer Foundation, Customer Independence & Support, Customer Specialist Centre, Private Management and Proactive Customer Management teams

About the role

Manager Customer Independence, Support & Private Management leads high performing teams to support customers to increase their capability to manage their finances and regain financial independence. The Customer Independence and Support team also finalises matters where a customer is no longer subject to a Financial Management Order or is deceased.

The Private Management team provides oversight and customer-centred support to Private Managers who have the responsibility for the financial management of another person. The support includes the onboarding process when a Private Manager has been appointed, decision making in relation to major financial proposals, the review of annual accounts and the policies, guidelines and legislative requirements regarding their role as a financial manager.

In this role, you will provide strategic advice to the Estate Management Leadership Team to support effective decision making for our customers, ensuring NSW Trustee & Guardian’s values and Customer Excellence Principles are modelled and upheld. You will lead high performing teams to deliver services and will be responsible for developing and implementing policies relating to financial management. This role may require you to work outside normal business hours and may include working on weekends. You may be required to travel to different locations within NSW.

About you

You will have extensive experience in a leadership role in an industry or environment that delivers quality services to people with disability or who may be vulnerable. Your strong communication skills will enable you to collaborate with professional practice leaders, managers and staff across NSW Trustee & Guardian to continually build responsive and high-quality practice standards in delivery high quality services that meet the needs of customers. Strong leadership and management skills are necessary to effectively manage finite resources and ensure customers’ needs are met, the workload is distributed evenly, meets WHS requirements, and ensure tasks and projects are completed within agreed timeframes.

Essential requirements  

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills for the delivery of services in a complex human services customer environment and sound strategic thinking capacity, management and administrative skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in human services or related discipline.
  • Understanding of NSW Trustee & Guardian’s key services and customer base including experience working and/or supporting people with disability, vulnerable or older people.
  • Available to travel throughout NSW.
  • Willingness to have phone calls and team email accounts monitored for quality assurance and training purposes, and to participate in one to one review sessions for calls and emails.
