Job Overview

This newly created position is a crucial support role to ensure the presentation and smooth operations of Farmwall’s daily activities. This is an exciting new opportunity for an enthusiastic employee, passionate and eager to learn about food security, urban farming, plants and/or agriculture and horticulture.

The role will see you jumping in and contributing to a wide variety of the business including communications, warehousing, administration and urban farming! We will provide all training and support and are looking for a self-starter with a strong sense of initiative to help us achieve our vision of a nourished planet, educated communities and regenerative food system by 2030!

Responsibilities

The urban farming all rounder will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to a wide range of business functions including being responsible for:

Maintaining the presentation of Farmwall office and classroom

  • Tending to A LOT of plants! (watering, repotting, trimming, rearranging, propagating etc).
  • Ensuring sanitation and covid safe protocols are followed for all surfaces and spaces.
  • Regular ol’ cleaning - (vacuuming, dusting, tidying).
  • Cleaning, feeding and maintaining aquaponic fish tanks.

Managing e-commerce orders and warehouse

  • Tracking new product orders through our e-commerce platform.
  • Packing, labelling and posting orders.
  • Responding to enquiries.
  • Finding new and improved ways to keep the warehouse clean and organised.
  • Driving the Farmwall van to deliver or pick up items (manual transmission).

Microgreen seeding and production

  • Seeding trays of microgreens.
  • Washing produce trays.
  • Tracking and collecting data from production, inventory and yield.

General administration and communications support

  • Assisting with administration using Hubspot, Excel, Google Drive.
  • Assisting with communications including taking photos and videos for social media.
  • Suggesting and executing on new content ideas.
  • Organising digital filing.
  • Other administrative and communications duties as required.

Experience

We are looking for someone with a strong desire to learn and contribute to our mission of transforming the future of food through education. All training will be provided. If you think the experience you have has prepared you for this opportunity, we want to hear from you!

Skills and education

  • Drivers licence essential.
  • Knowledge or experience caring for plants, farming, or aquaponics/hydroponics strongly regarded.
  • Hospitality experience highly regarded.
  • A current working with children check or willingness to obtain one.

Farmwall is a Melbourne-based urban farming start up, on a mission to transform the future of food through education. We design and implement natural, food producing solutions in urban spaces, with the goal of enhancing the built environment with positive social and environmental outcomes.

Our flagship design is the Farmwall, an aquaponically-inspired system that can grow fresh produce indoors in a small-scale vertical farm, without any food miles or food waste.
