Key Position Objectives

FECCA’s Health & Ageing Team is growing and looking for two (2) new Policy and Project Officers.

They will be responsible for implementing multicultural health, ageing, and aged care programs and policy advocacies. These will include identifying issues impacting people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; developing and pilot-testing practice recommendations in collaboration with key stakeholders; and providing high-level policy review and advice including through submissions to both government and non-government inquiries.

Reporting Relationship

Policy and Project Officers report to the Director of Policy–Health & Ageing and works collaboratively with the larger FECCA team and key community partners and stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work on research, analysis, and policy submissions on health, ageing, and aged care issues impacting people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Implement multicultural health and aged care outreach and engagement programs including any routine administration, day-to-day problem-solving, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholder management
  • Engage FECCA member organisations, partners, and stakeholders to identify policy and practice recommendations on various health, ageing, and aged care issues
  • Develop and sustain policy advisory committees and reference groups
  • Contribute to organisational strategies and support organisational growth through strategic grant applications and skilful grant management
  • Undertake other tasks on an ad hoc basis to explore strategic partnerships and initiatives

People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated understanding or lived experience of issues impacting people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Previous experience working on community development programs, grant application and management, or health or aged care service delivery in culturally and linguistically diverse contexts
  • A tertiary qualification in a field related to health, social sciences, or public policy
  • Good analytical skills and demonstrated ability to produce and/or analyse quantitative and qualitative data to develop high-quality reports and advocacy materials
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Demonstrated understanding of government systems, not-for-profit organisations, and policy development process
  • Excellent communication and people skills critical in developing collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders such as people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, community-based organisations, government agencies, and researchers
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, takes initiative, and requires minimal supervision
  • Ability to work professionally as part of a team in a positive and supportive manner
