This role is identified specifically for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
The purpose of this role is to support The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA)’s work in building partnerships and solidarity between multicultural and First Nations people and their organisations. This role will focus on FECCA’s existing collaboration with the Uluru Dialogue1 on activities to build awareness and support for the Uluru Statement From the Heart among Australia’s multicultural communities.
This role will also help to identify and develop other partnerships and opportunities to strengthen FECCA’s work alongside and in support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia.
This role sits in FECCA’s Policy Team and reports to the Director of Policy and Advocacy. The successful candidate will join a small but mighty team of people who love working together and prioritise supporting each other to achieve our professional and personal goals.

At the heart of FECCA’s work is promoting and advancing multiculturalism, embodied in equitable policies and non-discriminatory practices for all Australians, regardless of their cultural, linguistic, ethnic, racial, or religious backgrounds. FECCA strives to ensure that the needs and aspirations of various cohorts of Australia’s multicultural population are heard by policy and decision makers, as well as the broader public.

This role requires significant engagement with members, formal and informal partners, and working in conjunction with them to develop and implement activities that lead to multicultural communities being connected to First Nations communities and building long lasting relationships.
FECCA is a small and flexible organisation. The successful candidate will be required to work on a range of cross-organisational projects, on an ad hoc basis, in collaboration with colleagues and external stakeholders to meet FECCA’s overall goals.
