ABOUT YOU

You will be an energetic self-starter used to working in a fast paced environment. You will be approachable and collaborative with an eye for detail. Working with multiple stakeholders and across competing priorities will be your bread and butter.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Providing technical support to country teams, the Senior Equity and Inclusion Advisor supports the development and implementation of projects and ensure equity and inclusion is embedded within these. At the organisational level the role champions gender equity and inclusion through the Gender Equity and Inclusion Leadership Group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Advice and Support

  • Provide technical support and input into the development and implementation of key strategic equity and inclusion programmatic initiatives
  • Build the capacity of programs staff through the documentation and communication of preferred practice and one-on-one mentoring. Capacity development of country staff to ensure the use of equity analysis with a focus on gender and disability, to inform project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Identify innovative initiatives to assess and address inequities in eye health in the countries where we work, and oversee the assessment of the effectiveness of these approaches aligned to country strategies
  • Support the Strategic Initiatives and country teams by providing input for the development of new donor proposals to ensure equity is being addressed and provide technical review support for donor reporting.
  • Develop relevant technical position papers and translate global practices/research findings to inform The Foundation’s program development.

Communication and Learning

  • Maintain knowledge of all equity programs and activities across The Foundation’s portfolio to support information sharing, collaboration and learning.
  • Provide leadership, where appropriate, to ensure that working groups established for specific equity and inclusion improvement projects (which may include representatives from multiple teams, divisions, and locations) work collaboratively and effectively.
  • Represent The Foundation at the global level, where appropriate, raising The Foundations profile with donors and organisations through engagement in external coordination mechanisms, reference groups, conferences and global meetings

Lead Initiatives

  • Gender Equity and Inclusion Champions:The GEICs are a dedicated team of skilled and capable people across FHF that promote, inform and help drive work to strengthen gender equity and inclusion both in the work-place, with their teams and managers, and within the programs we support.
  • Gender Equity Learning Network:The GELN aims to create a space that allows The Foundation's staff to share programming practice, learn from each other's successes and challenges, and generate creative and innovative solutions to address gender equity within programming.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in gender equity and inclusion project design and implementation
  • Professional experience in public health or international development.
  • Experience in project coordination, including planning, data management, budget management and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience in resource mobilisation, including supporting the delivery of donor funded projects in the international development sector.
