Fighting Chance’s new accommodation enterprise puts people with disabilities and their families at the forefront of choice about how accommodation services are delivered. Set to expand rapidly over the next few years, our innovative model of supported independent living focuses on a person-centred, family governance model. At the core of this is the Family Governance Committee who collaborate with their team to ensure that true choice and control are prioritised for all housemates.

ABOUT THE ROLE

“We are three young women who love music, fashion, nail polish, bush walks, cafes, sport and visiting our families. We also happen to have some special needs. Our home is filled with warmth and love and has been set up especially for us and our needs. We need some more wonderful people to join our circle of support. If you have experience in caring, an energetic and uplifting personality, and would like to do some meaningful work, please read on to learn more.”

You will be providing support for three young women within their home and out in the community. Home and community-based activities are centred on their needs and interests, such as going shopping, to the cafés, or supporting them if they need to be driven to various appointments or to visit their families.

We are looking for reliable, committed and empathetic individuals to provide quality care as a Support Worker/s.

The role includes:

• Delivering personalised support
• Providing in home support by assisting housemates at meal times, with personal care and administering medication
• Supporting housemates to engage and participate in their community
• Complete and enter any case notes for housemates you have directly supported into the Client Management SystemA

YOUR SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• Experience as a support worker or carer.
• A passion for moving the dial for individuals with disability
• A commitment to providing responsive, person-centred and considerate care
• A positive and energetic personality
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Flexible and adaptive communication skills, with a willingness to learn.

REQUIREMENTS

• Flexibility to work morning, evening, weekends
• Have the right to work in Australia
• Full NSW Drivers Licence (at least P2) & Reliable Vehicle
• Possess or be willing to obtain a current satisfactory NDIS Worker Screening
• A valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
• Current First Aid & CPR (HLTAID003)
• COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
• 2x contactable referees
• Experience with Behaviour Management desirable but not essential
