The Role:

The Flagstaff Group is a large Illawarra & Shoalhaven based employer with extensive business operations including materials recycling, food packaging & distribution, digital and off-set printing and a commercial laundry, we are seeking to immediately appoint a new Work Health & Safety Manager to join our People & Culture Team.

Our “for purpose” business divisions vary from paper and cardboard recycling, commercial laundry, snap frozen meals, packing and assembly and printing. All have the aim of providing jobs and life skills for people living with disability.

Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to;

  • Assisting managers and supervisors to maintain compliance of safety policies, procedures and legislative requirements, including training of staff;
  • Assisting in regular safety audits;
  • Conducting internal investigations and training on accident investigation, manual handling and fire safety;
  • Maintaining Work Health & Safety Legislation;
  • Recording, investigation and reporting of workplace incidents, accidents and near misses;
  • Management of return to work plans and injury management;

We are seeking

  • An enthusiastic team player with a keen eye for detail and a passion for Health and Safety;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with all Stakeholders within the businesses;
  • Formal qualification (Cert IV or higher) in Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) and demonstrated recent experience in effectively undertaking a key & direct safety role in the work place;
  • Recent experience, confidently and efficiently using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence;
