The Advocacy Coordinator – Race Discrimination will drive the ongoing campaign to end racially discriminatory policing in Victoria. They will engage in parliamentary lobbying, strategic communications, community organising, and public events as they support a team of extraordinary young people to take on leadership roles throughout.
The Advocacy Coordinator works within the Police Accountability Project's legal team and the Outreach Support Worker to respond to individual and community legal needs around discriminatory, unlawful or negative police contact and work toward objectives identified in the Without Suspicion campaign plan.
We seek an experienced, outgoing person with demonstrated skills in community organising, political analysis, lobbying, community education education and media. The position is embedded in the centre’s Police Accountability Project, and will work closely with other legal, human rights and community sector groups on the campaign objectives.
This is a flexible 3 day (22.5 hour) 12 month contract position. $95,978 (pro rata), plus the benefits of tax-free salary packaging and family friendly, flexitime, partial Work From Home and time in lieu arrangements. The position is a 12-month contract with intention to extend as funding allows.
