About the role

The Family Violence Practitioner - Women’s, provides intensive, innovative and holistic interventions to victim-survivors of family violence.

This includes providing Family Violence counselling to victim-survivors and support to the partners/ex-partners/family members of the men attending the Men’s Behaviour Change Program due to perpetrating Family Violence.

The role works with the women to assess risk, complete safety plans, and requires communication throughout the man’s MBCP service to ensure the safety of the women and children. The Family Violence Practitioner - Women’s role also involves supporting women to address the impact of family violence and to support them in a short-term counselling capacity.

About the Position

The Family Safety Contact Worker will provide support to the partners/ex-partners/family members of the men attending the Men’s Behaviour Change Program due to perpetrating Family Violence. The role works with the women to assess risk, complete safety plans, and requires communication throughout the man’s MBCP service to ensure the safety of the women and children.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications (Degree minimum level) in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Family Therapy or related field.
  • Demonstrated Family Violence knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in working with victim-survivors of Family Violence.
  • An understanding of the complexities of Family Violence.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and ongoing safety plans.
  • Skill and competency in providing Family Violence specific Counselling to victim-survivors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
