About the Job
We are looking for someone who is interested in filling the role of Communications & Events Manager in 2022. The role of the Communications & Events Manager is to oversee and undertake strategic activities in relation to communications and community development to best meet the Co-op’s mission and objectives and in-line with our Communications Strategy.

- Understanding of and experience working within a community organisation
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively within a diverse team
- Proven skills in planning and prioritising tasks within a demanding and dynamic environment with limited supervision
- Experience of office management, administration, communications & marketing
- Excellent written, electronic, individual face to face and group communication skills
- Experience of and commitment to high standard of customer service
- Understanding of and commitment to the goals of the Food Co-op, cooperative structures, consensus decision-making and conflict resolution strategies

Position Description (SuBJECT TO REVIEW)
Content Co-ordination and Distribution:
- Compile fortnightly e-newsletter
- Maintain & develop website content
- Social media - Instagram & Facebook feeds, stories & events
- Maintain additional online content resources eg. Blog
Graphic Design:
- Produce in-store signage
- Posters & flyers
- Social Media graphics
Distribution of Flyers & Posters:
- Print posters & flyers
- Coordinate Working Members for distribution
Maintenance & Development of Co-op 'branding and promotional identity':
- Format documents & spreadsheets for organisation-wide or public access
- Re-vamp product labels
- Update & maintain email signatures
- Co-op attire
- Administration of Co-op merchandising
Produce & Publish Email Campaigns and Surveys:
- New Member Welcome email
- Produce sporadic/legally required Member/Organisation-wide campaigns
- Produce surveys to consult and engage Members/shoppers
Develop In-store Signage and Boards:
- Chalk-board signs design and upkeep
- Strategise for additional Working Member/Shopper engagement options
Maintain & Develop Digital Systems:
- Email administration and maintenance
- Membership App & Digital Sign-up form
- Work with Working Members Manager to innovate for improved communication systems between key Working Member roles
- Administer Member-only Facebook Group
- Miscellaneous e.g. Online Ordering process optimisation during lockdown
Liaise with Media outlets:
- Respond to requests for interviews and other content
- Develop positive relations with local media outlets & pursue opportunities for promotion
Community Development Initiatives:
- Idea generation & coordination of community development/engagement initiatives and events in-line with our Strategic Plan
- Engaging and building community partnerships. e.g. Enviro Centre, See-change etc.
Events
- Being the main point of contact and inquiry for the community regarding booking/organising events at the Co-op
- Facilitate and organise the booking process for each event, via Humanitix
- Maintain team rosters for working members for the Co op’s regular in-house events
- Ensure clear, consistent information is distributed through our social media and online platforms
- Uphold the Workplace Health and Safety & Responsible Service of Alcohol policies and procedures of the Co-op
Contribute to General Management & Strategic Planning:
- Oversee general running of the Co-op while on shift
- Attend and contribute to weekly Team Meetings and correspondence
- Attend and contribute to monthly Board Meetings and other relevant strategic meetings and related correspondence
