WEstjustice is a leading community legal centre providing free services to vulnerable and disadvantaged people. From our offices in Footscray, Werribee and Sunshine and through our outreach services we provide advice, representation and education on a broad range of issues including employment, discrimination, consumer disputes, tenancy, credit and debt, family disputes, family violence, criminal law, infringements, children’s law and more.

WEstjustice believe in a just and fair society where the law and its processes do not discriminate against vulnerable people. We provide free legal education, undertake law reform activities and work in partnership with their local communities to deliver projects that improve access to justice.

THE ROLE

WEstjustice is seeking to employ a permanent Program Manager (Consumer and Settlement Justice Team) to join our growing Economic Justice team. The position is a full-time position, however part-time requests (0.8 FTE) may be considered.

We are seeking an experienced lawyer with substantial experience in at least one of the following areas – consumer, discrimination and/or social security law. The successful applicant must hold an unrestricted practising certificate.

This exciting opportunity is available for an experienced lawyer eager to work in an innovative community justice environment, within a dynamic team, and who is focussed on helping vulnerable clients. Experience in project management would also be highly regarded for this role. This may include experience in monitoring and evaluation, report writing and/or community consultation.

The Program Manager will be employed as a member of the WEstjustice Economic Justice Program (EJP). They will be a key player in realising a number of innovative projects which are presently in early or pilot stages, including our Settlement Justice Partnership and MyName Project.

The successful applicant will have the proven ability to relate to and work with a range of clients including people from newly-arrived communities, as well as community organisations and stakeholders.

Please note that due to COVID-19, most WEstjustice offices and clinics are currently operating remotely. Once normal business operations resume, the Program Manager will be based at our Werribee office but may be required to work at our other offices and/or clinic sites, pending need (located in the western suburbs of Melbourne including Sunshine and Footscray, or the CBD).

REMUNERATION

Salary range - $95,000 – $99,000 per annum (depending on experience), plus employer funded superannuation in accordance with Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992 (Cth). In addition, generous salary packaging is available (including access to Accommodation and Meal Entertainment packaging).

ABOUT WESTJUSTICE

WEstjustice is a multidisciplinary, community-based legal centre committed to improving justice outcomes for the people of western Melbourne, and especially the most vulnerable in our community.

It was formed in July 2015 through the amalgamation of the Footscray, Wyndham and Western Suburbs Community Legal Centres, which brought a long and proud history and experience to the new organisation.
