Employee Relations Manager

  • Full time ongoing HS8 (part time 0.8 over 5 working days can be negotiated)
  • Remuneration: $126,245 plus super & salary packaging
  • Based at Fairfield with free onsite parking
  • Hybrid work model - onsite & working from home available

Forensic mental health is a specialist area within the mental health service system. The services provided by Forensicare address the needs of offenders experiencing mental health issues, the mental health sector, the justice sector and the general community.

These services are delivered through three streams, inpatient services at Thomas Embling Hospital, community services through the Community Forensic Mental Health Service and prison based services at several locations. This position will be based at Fairfield and will be required to work across all Forensicare sites.

About the role:

Join the People & Culture team at Forensicare during an exciting time of innovation and growth. We’re looking for an Employee Relations Manager to provide expert advice, coaching and support to managers and staff across the full range of employee relations issues. You will ensure fair and consistent application of policies and procedures and promote a positive culture. You will also participate in and lead organisational change projects and other People and Culture initiatives.

You have experience in Industrial and Employee relations with a commitment to interpersonal relations and teamwork. You have significant experience in providing high level strategic advice to senior managers to develop practical workplace solutions.

About you:

  • Experience in the health industry would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in an Industrial Relations and Employee relations role and advocacy skills to lead cases in the Fair Work Commission or other employment related tribunals.
  • Proven expertise in legislative interpretation, applying regulations and the ability to interpret multiple policies and procedures.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communications, including the ability to effectively communicate in business/legal written form.
  • Demonstrated expertise in research and analysis and its application in the development of internal policy.
  • Commitment to interpersonal relations and teamwork. Significant experience in providing high level strategic advice to senior managers to develop practical workplace solutions.
  • Excellent time management, including the ability to prioritise and manage a wide range of tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to gain the confidence and cooperation of employees, managers and other stakeholders to facilitate positive outcomes.
  • Sound judgement and maturity to handle sensitive matters competently.

Mandatory qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in human resources and/or industrial relations/employment law
