The Organisation

The Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture Inc. (also known as Foundation House) provides services to advance the health, wellbeing, and human rights of people of refugee backgrounds in Victoria who have experienced torture or other traumatic events in their country of origin or while fleeing those countries.

The organisation was established in Melbourne in 1987 and is non-denominational, politically neutral, and non-aligned. Foundation House is a state-wide agency offering services in metropolitan, regional and rural areas, with head office based in Brunswick. We have approximately 200 staff with metropolitan regional offices in Dallas, Sunshine, Dandenong, and Ringwood.

The team and role

The Intake and Access team are responsible for the delivery of safe, person centred, effective and connected services for all referrals. The team responds to these referrals by providing an initial assessment and where Foundation House services are not the best match for client needs/presentation referrals are facilitated to relevant agencies.

The team leader Intake and Access leads a team in the delivery of high quality services to clients to promote better access, referral pathways and risk management ensuring service provision reflects Foundation House’s Integrated Trauma Recovery Service Model.

About you

You are a passionate mental health professional who understand the importance of trauma informed systems and who wants to work in services which value the dignity and value of each person who comes into contact with that service. You have expert knowledge of the mental health service system in Victoria and have experience in leading intake and/or triage processes. You have a deep understanding of trauma and its psychosocial impact on individuals, families and communities especially with people from refugee like backgrounds.

You possess outstanding communication skills including relationship building with internal and external stakeholders and working effectively in a complex service system.

Your ability to support and manage the work of a multidisciplinary team, along with excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative working style is essential in this role.

Salary and benefits

Remuneration is based on our Enterprise Agreement 2014 up to $108,799 per annum plus 17.5% leave loading and superannuation (in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992). Additional benefits include salary packaging up to $18,550, a range of flexible working options, a highly supportive team environment, excellent training and development opportunities, and onsite parking.

* In accordance with the health orders from the Victorian Minister for Health, the Pandemic COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Specified Facilities) Order 2022, Foundation House must comply with employer obligations regarding mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations, including the third vaccination.
