What we are looking for?

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Sustainability Education Officer to join our Sustainable Assets Department who will be responsible for the planning and delivery of Council’s environmental education and behaviour change programs and events to achieve positive sustainability outcomes for Council and our community. Your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Leading the design and delivery of Council’s community environmental behaviour change and education programs and initiatives to increase practical environmental actions across the Frankston municipality.
  • Organising and promoting Council’s environmental events program, including identifying relevant topics, sourcing and liaising with presenters and evaluating feedback.
  • Engaging with Council employees to increase and embed environmental awareness and action within the organisation.
  • Creating a wide variety of targeted environmental communication and education materials including articles, an e-newsletter, brochures, website content and displays.
  • Engaging with a broad range of stakeholders including residents, local schools, businesses and community groups to foster positive environmental sustainability outcomes.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in environmental science, environmental education or related field, or lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience.
  • Experience in environmental behaviour change and education programs and initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with a diverse range of people.
  • Positive outlook with the ability to influence and gain co-operation of others to achieve set goals.
