We are specifically looking for a Specialist Support Coordinator or Support Coordinator that has worked within the Corrective Services Sector supporting participants through the Justice System.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate

Experience within the Justice system

  • Experience with complex case management and ability to develop strategies to address barriers and points of crisis within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience implementing plans, monitoring and follow-up to negotiate appropriate support solutions with multiple stakeholders and seek to achieve well-coordinated plan implementation

An understanding of

  • The different types and lengths of orders a participant might need to adhere to in order to re-integrate into the community
  • The types of mandatory reporting a participant might need to complete, understanding participant classifications under the JusticeSystem
  • Commonly used language within the Justice System and how to rephrase using strength-based language
  • The types of restrictions a participant might be under when accessing the community
  • The different departments in the Department of Communities and Justice (DoCJ) and subsequent reporting hierarchy (based on classification)
  • Understanding and respecting the participant’s privacy and balancing this with information shared with the community and mainstream providers
  • Understand the delineation of roles and responsibilities between the NDIS and Corrective Services, particularly around risk
  • Understanding of the different types jail units and their purposes.

You will need to demonstrate capability and experience in a Support Coordination role:

  • Assist participants in successfully coordinating their support needs and in achieving outcomes of their NDIS plan;
  • Provide support coordination within agreed timeline;
  • Provide advice to participants and their carers on the evolving environment of the NDIS;
  • Research and identify providers and other relevant stakeholders and build strong working relationships, and
  • Prepare reports, monitor expenditure and complete all associated administrative work

If you have experience in this field and a lesser understanding of the NDIS, you are still encouraged to apply, as NDIS training can be provided.
