About The GEO Group Australia

The GEO Group Australia is the country's leading provider of outsourced correctional services, operating in NSW and VIC. Our goal is to deliver better corrections, and in doing so, create safer communities. As a Registered Training Provider (number 3570), GEO offers a wide variety of training programs which are nationally accredited.

We measure our success in delivering ‘better corrections’ in two ways: against our objective of being Australia’s best provider of correctional services, as well as our ability to make these services better over time through innovation and continual improvement.

We measure our success in delivering ‘safer communities’ through our ability to successfully reintegrate the prisoners we release, with corresponding reductions in their rate of re-offending.

To reduce re-offending we apply the GEO Continuum of Care:

  • We work not only in our correctional centres but continue our services out into the community to support our prisoners after release;
  • We work not only with our prisoners but also with those critical to their rehabilitation and reintegration such as families, social networks and other service providers; and
  • We work not only during our prisoners’ sentences but also afterwards as they leave the correctional system and return fully to their communities.

Our five values which deliver Better Corrections, Safer Communities are integrity, respect, accountable, agile and innovative.

Who we are

Fulham Correctional Centre is part of The GEO Group in Australia and is the leading provider of privately-managed correctional services in NSW and Victoria.

Fulham Correctional Centre is located in Sale, VIC, 200km east of Melbourne.

Fulham has been continually managed by GEO on behalf of Corrections Victoria since opening in 1997. It is Victoria's largest regional correctional centre.

Fulham’s primary role is to safely and securely house up to 947 adult male prisoners and progress their sentence plans by delivering a comprehensive range of education, vocational training, reintegration and offending behaviour programs. Together, these lower a prisoner’s risk of reoffending and increase the likelihood of successful community reintegration. A current expansion project of the centre is underway.

A key area of Fulham's operations is the Nalu Challenge Community. Located next to the main prison site, Nalu's 68 prisoners benefit from an intensive program of community reparation, leadership/team work challenges and preparation for reintegration into the community.
