The Great Barrier Reef is a unique icon and an irreplaceable ecosystem. It’s the largest living thing on earth and home to thousands of species of marine life, including six of the world’s seven species of marine turtle.

For over 20 years the Great Barrier Reef Foundation (GBRF) has been the lead charity for the Reef, driving the immediate change needed for the Reef to survive for future generations. Right now, we have over 200 Reef-saving projects with over 300 project delivery partners. We are the action station for the Reef, bringing together people and science to deliver the world’s largest coral reefs program. 

The role

The Project Manager – Water Quality works closely with the Project Director– Water Quality to support delivery, administration, reporting, monitoring & evaluation and engagement for water quality improvement projects.

The Project Manager will engage with and provide guidance to individual Water Quality projects to assist with progress and financial reports and ensure alignment with GBRF’s processes and expectations, focusing on contributing to technical water quality matters to deliver on GBRF’s mission and purpose.

Ideally, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated capability in complex project management including excellent organisational skills, synthesising multiple lines of information, strong time management, good written and verbal communications, contract and budget management.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with experts and non-experts to convey science and conservation concepts, as well as share project activities and outcomes in accessible formats suitable for the target audience.
  • Evidence of building and maintaining strong partnerships and networks, including effectively engaging with partners, key government agencies, and Reef industries to support information exchange and progress the collaborative design and delivery of projects.
  • Ability to travel on occasion to support project activities.
  • A degree in environmental science, marine science or similar will be well regarded, as well as formal project management qualification.

WORK TYPE:

The role is full time and is contracted to 30 June 2024 - flexible work arrangements are available.
