Golden City Support Services Incorporated (GCSS) is a respected disability and mental health support provider improving the safety and quality of life of the people we support in Greater Bendigo, Echuca and Gisborne for over 40 years.
GCSS provides a range of supports, including supporting independent living, community participation and programs for those seeking mental health recovery.
The Board seeks expressions of interest from those interested in governance and a passion for ensuring quality in the lives of people living with disability or mental health challenges.
The Board sets GCSS’s strategic direction, monitors adherence to regulatory requirements and its financial performance and advises our CEO and Executive Management team.
Board members contribute to improving the lives of the people we support by raising awareness of sector challenges and by advancing best practice in providing quality support.
GCSS is governed by Victorian legislation and regulated by Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV). Information on the formal role and responsibilities of an incorporated association are explained on CAV’s website here (search for “Committee and committee members – incorporated associations”).
GCSS’s support activities are also governed by a range of other legislative schemes, including the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Victorian disability rights legislation and standards set by the Victorian Departments of Health and of Families, Fairness and Housing.
As a new board member you will be supported to understand and develop your role and responsibilities in governing a not-for-profit disability and mental health services provider.

New board members can be appointed directly by the board for up to 12 months and may nominate for a 3-year term at the annual general meeting held in November each year.
