About you

As our Senior Education Researcher, you will use your previous research experience combined with knowledge of the Australian general practice training sector to work collaboratively with investigative team members and internal and external partners. To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of ethical practice when conducting education research.
  • Experience in conducting qualitative, evaluation and mixed/multi methods research including interviewing, data analysis and interpretation, and reporting.
  • Experience in research project leadership including maintaining accurate records and clear communication.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to work independently, prioritise own workload, to work consistently and with flexibility with busy schedules, and to meet deadlines and within budget.

The position will require advanced skills in qualitative approaches, evaluation research, and mixed and multi methods research, and skills in the leadership of collaborative research teams.

the opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Quality and Compliance, you will conceptualise and lead the development of research project plans to address identified education research priorities. This will include detailing the most appropriate qualitative / quantitative methods to ensure research problems are addressed. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • leading the three RACGP-Sector Collaboration (RSC) Education Research Grant (ERG) projects, following the agreed research project plans.
  • devising and implementing relevant communication plans, engaging with relevant stakeholders on a regular basis to promote the objectives of the RSC-ERGs and facilitating the successful conduct of the research projects.
  • leading the analysis and interpretation of data from the research projects, and the dissemination of this information via scholarly papers and conference presentations to diverse audiences, including RACGP staff, academics, clinicians, educators, and government agencies.
  • leading the promotion of the projects and dissemination of findings through additional media, including RACGP media tools, websites of relevant organisations, social media etc
  • lead the research teams put together to deliver these projects including an internally appointed research assistant and the external collaborating researchers/teams.
  • provide advice and recommendations on the projects' operations and promote understanding of projects' goals and strategies.
