Communications and Administration Coordinator

  • Job Type: Casual $38 p/h, 20 hours (approx 2.5 days) a week starting 1 August (potential to start earlier for the right candidate) for three months.
  • Location: Flexible, preferably Victoria or NSW but will consider any applicant who can work to a AEST/DT timezone. Office operates remotely.

About the ROle

The Communications and Administration Coordinator is a short-term role responsible for communications and engagement with LGBTIQ+ organisations during our flagship project, GiveOUT Day on 20 October 2022!

GiveOUT Day 2022 will bring together 80 LGBTIQ+ not-for-profit organisations and their communities for one national day of giving to build awareness of their causes, raise funds for vital services and expand their networks. About GiveOUT

GiveOUT is an LGBTIQ+ led organisation with the aim of increasing funds to not-for-profit organisations that service our rainbow communities. GiveOUT achieves this through three main pillars: capacity building programs, research and advocacy, and funding programs (including GiveOUT Day and Amplify Pride Fund).

GiveOUT brought GiveOUT Day to Australia for the first time in April 2019. It is the only national day of giving to LGBTIQ+ communities in Australia. GiveOUT Day has grown each year and in 2021 $320,000 was raised for 77 LGBTIQ+ organisations. For more information on projects head here: www.giveout.org.au/projects.

Over the past 5 years GiveOUT has distributed over $1 million to over 100 LGBTIQ+ organisations.


  • Raise the profile of LGBTIQ+ organisations in the lead up and during GiveOUT Day.
  • Engage diverse stakeholders and supporters through digitally savvy, creative and targeted communication channels.
  • Maximise brand awareness and fundraising goals.
  • Manage systems and platforms to ensure maximum participant engagement and support.
  • Ensure smooth events and administration support to the CEO and GiveOUT Day team.

The Communications and Administration Coordinator’s essential experience and competencies include:

  • Ability to execute and adapt effective communication campaigns to generate greater brand awareness for GiveOUT and the LGBTIQ+ sector more broadly
  • Skilled and enthusiastic at working in a small team to deliver an effective fundraising campaign on time
  • Excellent writing, editing and formatting skills with proven ability to proofread and edit
  • Experience of basic communications, admin and design tools, (eg. Mailchimp, Raisely, Google Drive, Zapier, Hootsuite and Canva)
  • Experience with the not-for-profit and/or community sector
  • Understanding of LGBTIQ+ communities
  • Ability to solve problems and use initiative
  • Self-motivated and able to take responsibility

The Communications and Administration Coordinator’s desired experience and competencies include:

  • Experienced in managing CRM systems and platforms to support communication and fundraising objectives
  • Experience in fundraising and a strong understanding of nfp fundraising and campaign strategies
  • Design experience including Photoshop or other software.
  • Experience in working with and motivating volunteers
  • Experience in event support and logistics
