The Global EverGreening Alliance is seeking a Media & Communications Volunteer to support internal and external communications focusing on content creation and social media strategy.

If you’re a motivated self-starter looking to develop your skills while helping to save the planet, this is the role for you! Under the guidance of a supportive and close-knit team, this role is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals and contribute to global campaigns such as the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and the Race to Resilience.

HOURS & FREQUENCY OF WORK

Applicants should be available to volunteer up to 15 hours per week (negotiable). Core office hours are from 9:30am to 2:30pm, Monday to Thursday, with some flexibility regarding which days and times successful applicants choose to volunteer. We are also currently accepting remote applicants.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop engaging, inspiring and impactful content
  • Plan and create a variety of content within a dynamic team environment
  • Identify content ideas across all platforms
  • Review news, media releases and relevant websites to source content and identify upcoming events and opportunities
  • Review the websites and social media of and engage with communications and technical focal points of members and partner organisations to source material and content
  • Facilitate, take notes and prepare reports regarding meetings and teleconferences
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the communications strategy, policies, procedures, registers and records
  • Draft communication documents, articles, newsletters, and content for the organisation’s website, including blogs, reviews and project reports

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • An understanding of social media platforms and best practice
  • Experience in content creation and applications such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite applications
  • Strong writing and editing skills, including long and short-form content
  • Strong interpersonal and communication, confidence liaising with internal and external colleagues, including stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
  • Well-developed time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Good problem-solving skills and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively

BONUS SKILLS

  • Previous experience in graphic design and visual communications
  • Demonstrated ability to create high-quality video content and familiarity with video editing software
  • Training and/or experience in media and communications, marketing, and/or journalism
  • Training and/or experience in environmental conservation, rural development, agriculture, climate change or similar
