We are now advertising for the position of Specialist Children’s Worker at Georgina Martina Refuges,
0.8 EFT – some on call hours required and occasional weekend shift
GMI have recently transitioned from a communal model to newly developed Core and Cluster model (one of the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Family Violence), with new purpose-built facilities.
Our new model of service has allowed us to diversify our practice and develop new specialist roles, such as the Specialist Children’s Worker. Being a senior practice position, we require an individual with extensive experience within the family violence and/or child welfare systems who can work alongside the leadership team to develop and implement a child centred, trauma informed and systemic practice framework that acknowledges children as victim survivors in their own right.
The Specialist Children’s Worker will work across both our new sites, one in the North East and one in the North West and actively engage and support all children within our service, alongside their Case Managers.
GMI is committed to the implementation of Recommendation 209 of the Royal Commission: ‘the Victorian Government to include in the 10-year industry plan for family violence prevention and response a staged process for the introduction of mandatory qualifications for specialist family violence practitioners, so that no later than 31 December 2020 all funded services must require family violence practitioners to hold a social work or equivalent degree.’ (Recommendation 209).
You will be rewarded with a positive work culture, Social, Community Housing and Disability Services Award conditions, EBA above award conditions, an organisational commitment to professional development and salary packaging options.
