The GO Foundation was established to provide scholarships to Indigenous students from primary school through to university, in public and independent schools, to students who live with family, in community. Through a GO scholarship, our students access the resources and support they need to ensure their journey through school is as rewarding as possible.

Core Responsibilities

• Be the day-to-day GO liaison for our Scholars, their schools and families, reporting to the Head of Scholarships and working with fellow Scholarships Program Managers
• Work with the Scholarships Team to ensure that our Scholarship Program is well managed and that our Scholars are engaged, supported and achieving positive outcomes
• Engage with the GO Scholars, their families and their schools on a regular basis to ensure they are engaged in all aspects of the GO program and that we are creating opportunities and providing access for every Scholar
• Oversee the wellbeing and care of our Scholars ensuring that they receive the pastoral care they need
• Build relationships between government departments and non-government support organisations and then know who to call and which service to access when our GO Scholars require additional assistance. You will understand that it is not GO’s expertise to provide all types of support and you will have good instinct and judgment on how best to achieve this
• Operate first and foremost with heart and with empathy towards all GO Scholars (of all ages) and their families. You may have lived experience and understand first-hand the challenges that our Scholars face
• Work with our Scholars to ensure they can access the tools and resources they need to make school a rich and rewarding experience and you will assist the Scholars with their pathways beyond Year 12
• Work with CareerTrackers, the Public Education Foundation and other delivery partners to ensure that all Scholars are well supported on their journey. You will become well acquainted with the work of these partner organisations
• Help manage the student application process through GO’s unique application portal, working with the Scholarships team to promote scholarship applications across schools, universities and other educational partners.
• You will assist the Head of Scholarships with planning for future delivery of scholarships and expansion of the program, assist with advice to the Scholarship Committee, advise schools on administering scholarships and work with the team to create processes, policies and criteria for all aspects of the program

You will be a person who values relationships and understands that relationships, trust and integrity are at the heart of how we act and think at GO
• You will be willing to work collaboratively with the GO Team and GO Partners, sharing your knowledge of Indigenous culture and heritage and providing a strong Indigenous voice at the table. Your strong cultural identity and desire to share this with others is an important part of who you are and why you want to join GO
• You will be committed to Reconciliation and a brighter future for all Australians. You are committed to the Uluru Statement from the Heart and will walk with the GO Foundation in support
• You are a team player that shows initiative to go above and beyond the basic responsibilities of the role
• You are willing to increase your understanding of the systems of support for young Indigenous students and know who to call to get things done
• You communicate well, both verbally and in writing and welcome the opportunity to create organised workflows and processes

Requirements and Qualifications

• The GO Foundation considers that being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine occupational qualification under s14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) for this role.
• You have a deep connection with your Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage and are willing and open to sharing that knowledge with students, your teammates and our partners
• A tertiary qualification or the equivalent in work experience in social work, counselling, education, safeguarding of children and young people, or government. However, other qualifications and experience will be considered for the right candidate
• Strong stakeholder engagement/relationship management skills in delivering improved outcomes for individuals and/or communities
• You are computer literate
• Please note: A current Working with Children Check and Police Check is required for this role.
