About the Role

The Good Sammy Academy is seeking a Disability Support Mentor with full time availability to support our clients with disabilities to develop new skills that prepare them to live more independent and fulfilling lives. Our motivated clients come to the Good Sammy Academy with a range of goals, including wanting to find a job, to cook meals, learning how to use public transport to access community groups and activities and to explore individual interests. 

This is a truly rewarding role for an individual with experience in assisting with independent living supports in the home and community.

Selection Criteria

• Transferable life skills and experience, applicable to our client needs
• Experience in supporting individuals to achieve their goals
• Understanding of the NDIS and disability support services (desirable)
• Qualification in disability (desirable)
• Have good written and verbal skills
• Have access to the internet and appropriate technology to communicate and record journal notes
• Have the ability to work unsupervised and maintain strong professional boundaries and ethics

Worker Screenings

• Have a current First Aid certificate (essential)
• Have a valid police check from the past 12 months (essential)
• Have a current Working With Children check
• Have a current NDIS Worker Screening Check or are willing to obtain one
• Have a reliable registered vehicle and a current drivers licence (essential)
• Full Covid19 Vaccination required
