The Family Violence Case Manager is an integral member of the Family Violence Team and delivers high quality short as well as longer term intensive case management services to women and children who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, family violence, including women who choose to remain in the relationship. The role contributes extensive knowledge and understanding of family violence to outreach case management and supports clients accommodated in emergency accommodation and transitional housing, delivering valued services and outcomes.
Minimum Mandatory Qualifications Requirements
Australia’s first Royal Commission into Family Violence was completed in 2015 after a number of violence-related deaths Victoria. The commission made 227 recommendations to reduce the impact of family violence in our community.
One of these recommendations is REC 209 which calls for the introduction of mandatory minimum qualifications for specialist family violence response practitioners. This meaning from 1 July 2021, any new practitioner that will be providing direct specialist services to victim survivors and/or perpetrators, within an agency funded by the Victorian Government for the delivery of family violence services, will need to meet the Minimum Qualifications policy requirements to be considered eligible for employment.
