Key responsibilities

This position is responsible, via The Greens NSW Operations Manager, to the Newcastle Greens State Campaign Coordinators for creating social media and digital advertising content to support the Newcastle Greens State Election Campaign.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Use appropriate software to produce social media content, including Facebook squares, Instagram posts, memes, and website content. The campaign has access to centralised software resources.
  • Use appropriate software applications to create, edit and publish video content for social media, Youtube and the Newcastle Greens website.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to supply photography/videography content.
  • Repurpose appropriates graphic and video material supplied by broader State campaigns for Newcastle campaign requirements.
  • Maintain a weekly posting schedule across digital channels, with the aims of brand awareness, building community and reaching persuadable communities that increases reach and/or engagement.
  • Ensure the engagement of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and LGBTQIA+ communities.
  • Other duties as directed.

Essential requirements

The Digital Campaigner must meet the following essential requirements:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with social media and digital advertising platforms.
  • Demonstrable ability with producing static and video content for social media platforms.
  • A commitment to The Greens and to advancing Greens policies and principles including an understanding of the Greens and support for the party’s principles, policies, and decision-making processes.
  • Understand of or willingness to be directed regarding electoral compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of NSW and Australian political issues and the political system
  • Excellent communication, skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills in managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, problem-solving skills and resilience.
  • Essential: A current Working with Children Check or a willingness to obtain one in the first month of employment
  • Experience with the Greens NSW system of ensuring consistency with electoral commission compliance regulations would be an advantage.

Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.

  • Operations Manager: Direct line manager
  • Graham Whittall, Campaign Coordinator: Day to day management of tasks. Escalate issues, keep informed, advise, and receive instructions.
  • Phil Maher, Newcastle Greens Digital Coordinator: For posting items created.
  • Newcastle State Campaign Team: Work collaboratively and inclusively by participating in meetings to share information, innovation, and best practice.
  • Internal stakeholders: Work with others on the campaign to resolve issues and provide solutions to problems.

PAY AND CONDITIONS

Salary range: $75.919.48FTE p.a. + 10.5% superannuation.

Primary Location: Newcastle / Flexible

Hours: 1 day a week / 7 hrs. Flexible

Status: Fixed Term, Part Time Contract until one week after the State election (25 March 2023).

Position begins: November 2022
