The University of Melbourne Graduate Student Association (GSA) is the independent representative organisation for all graduate coursework and research students at the University of Melbourne. GSA is led by an elected Board of 8 graduate students, and on behalf of over 30,000 constituents represents graduate student interests to the University and wider community, provides facilities and services, delivers events and activities to promote graduate student community and academic excellence, and supports 149 affiliated graduate student groups.

As the largest dedicated postgraduate association in Australia, GSA’s vision is for cohesive communities that actively empower graduate students to achieve meaningful holistic outcomes and experiences. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Student Engagement Officer – Representative Council will provide support to the newly elected Representative Council Members to undertake student engagement activities directly related to their cohort and their work in collaboration with the other members of the Student Engagement Team and the Policy Advocacy Team. This role will also work closely with the CEO by being the point of contact for all general GSA enquiries in relation to operational issues for the Representative Council and Faculty Council members perform student support activities as directed.

THE ROLE IS A FIXED-TERM Full-time CONTRACT till December 2022.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s degree, with experience in project management and stakeholders’ communications
  • Experience and knowledge of student lead organisations and University settings.
  • Experience in event management/community development or marketing activities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of good customer service practices
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills of Microsoft Office Skills
  • Organisational and time management skills.
