Come and join (HHA’S) Havelock Housing Association’s CD Team. We are one of Canberra’s largest and most successful social housing providers, offering safe and secure housing options for people on the lowest incomes, and people living with disabilities. We have expertise in understanding the needs of people from diverse backgrounds and in providing enhanced tenancy support for people living with disability and those high and complex needs. We have a relatively new, vibrant and growing community development / social inclusion program. Now is an exciting time to contribute your skills and experience to help increase the reach and impact of our program to residents and tenants across HHA’s property portfolios.

The Performance and Development Team consists of a Community Development (CD) Team Leader, a CD Coordinator (Sport and Physical Activity), a Tenancy Support Coordinator and an Administrative Assistant. All staff in this team report to the Executive Manager, Performance and Development, but the CD Team Leader will have responsibility for supporting and supervising the team on a day-to-day basis.

The Role

The Community Development Team Leader will:

  • Guiding a quality community development / social inclusion program and related events.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the team to implement activities including those funded under various grants, our general CD program and any new initiatives.
  • Provide day to day advice and support to the CD team to further develop the various strands of our program to meet resident needs.
  • In conjunction with the Executive Manager contribute to analysing and reporting on ongoing program activities, outcomes and impact.
  • Liaise regularly with sector and network partners and related community support services to ensure the ongoing development of a high-quality program.

Selection Criteria Essential:

  • Ability to work with kindness and empathy.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in working effectively with vulnerable people, and those with high and complex needs.
  • You will be required to hold a valid, up to date Working with Vulnerable People Card (ACT) and a full Drivers Licence.
  • At least 3 years’ direct experience in community development / social inclusion program design and delivery.
  • Demonstrated strategic stakeholder engagement and partnership / networking skills.
  • Sound organisational and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Committed team player, flexible and adaptable.

Selection Criteria Desirable:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the ACT housing and homelessness sector, and experience in the social housing sector is a definite advantage.
  • Experience working within the community development sector in the ACT is an advantage.
  • Sound IT skills including Microsoft Office. 

The Benefits

Generous salary under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award Level 6, pay point determined on level of experience. Additionally, as a registered Charity generous Salary Sacrificing benefits are available for Havelock Housing employees.

REPORTING TO: Executive Manager Performance & Development

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

SUPPORTING ROLE: CD Coordinator, Tenancy Support Coordinator, Administrative Officer

INTERNAL: The Executive Team, all other HHA teams   

EXTERNAL: Community stakeholders, Not for Profit Networks and program partners
