Tell me about the role

headspace Work and Study is an international first, providing online assistance to young people facing barriers to work and study. Support is tailored to a young person's needs using strengths-based approaches to help them reach their work and study goals. This role works directly with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people who are accessing the service, ensuring they receive tailored and appropriate support. The position also works more broadly with community organisations and services, helping to increase access and awareness of the service for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people.</p

Career Advisors work directly with a caseload of young people providing appointments via web chat, phone, email, and video chat. Career Advisors work in a multi-disciplinary team with dedicated clinicians who work across the team to provide integrated clinical care to ensure young people can balance their mental health and wellbeing alongside their work/study. Career Advisors also collaborate with key external stakeholders such as educational institutions, employment agencies and employers to assist young people with identifying opportunities and engaging in work and study.

The successful applicant will join an inclusive and collaborative team which includes existing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff. Your development in the role will be supported through an extensive orientation program, regular support, and team engagement. This role will work closely with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Career Advisors and non-Indigenous staff to ensure appropriate and effective service support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. This includes contributing to improving service process, procedures, and approaches to increase the cultural safety of the service.

This is a career opportunity not to be missed for professionals who want to work in an environment that promotes a culturally positive, personalised and strengths-based approach to support young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in their career development, job seeking and educational attainment.
