About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and dynamic leader to join the existing Coordinator Team, responsible for overall day-to-day management and operations of headspace Work and Study. headspace Work and Study provides online employment and education support to young people aged 15-25, helping them to reach their work and study goals through a clinically integrated service.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a proven track record in supporting young people with employment and education, managing and motivating a team of staff, and working collaboratively with industry and partners.
  • Strong organisational and service management skills with the ability to establish and monitor effective systems to ensure a quality service is provided and service targets and reporting requirements are met.
  • Have significant demonstrated experience and professional knowledge coordinating and delivering work and study related services, preferably for young people.
  • Be competent and experienced in managing, motivating and leading a team of direct service staff.
  • Display highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Who we're looking for:

  • Qualifications and/or relevant experience in a related health/education/career sector
  • Experience in managing teams, developing a positive team culture and providing stable and supportive leadership
  • Experience coordinating and delivering work and/or study related services, including experience working with industry/sector partners to build employment and study pathways
  • Service/program management skills
  • Experience in delivering programs to vulnerable young people, working knowledge of the common mental health issues experienced by young people and a commitment to advocating for young people
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and proven track record in building and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Access to a safe and confidential space to work from (i.e. where you can conduct phone calls of a sensitive nature) and a reliable internet connection (capable of video conferencing)

  1. Young people living with mental health challenges can often face multiple barriers to work and study. What do you believe are the key principles that should underpin effective vocational support to this cohort?
  2. This role requires management of a small and diverse team. Please provide an overview of your experience in managing staff. Please include the number of direct reports you have managed and for what length of time.
  3. This service currently operates under a federal government contract which outlines appropriate measures for effective and safe service delivery. What experience do you have leading a team to ensure both specific service targets and operating requirements are met?
