Do you have initiative, patience, positivity, a sense of fun and able to motivate people to achieve their goals? Headstart supports people with an Acquired Brain Injury to pursue activities of choice in the community and re-develop independent life skills.

We are currently looking for applicants to join us as Community Support Workers in the Newcastle and wider Hunter region and provide quality support enabling people to live the life they choose. Responsibilities include a variety of tasks such as linking activities, community access, personal or attendant care, social support, vocational pursuits and mentoring. We are seeking motivated people who are innovative and flexible in their approaches to reducing the barriers to community life that are experienced by people with an ABI. Requirements

  • Completion certificate for the NDIS Worker Orientation Module accessible here https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/
  • Completion of a vocational qualification in disability or community services OR completion of the New Worker NDIS Induction Module accessible here https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/
  • Outstanding communication and team skills
  • Commitment to consumer driven services and knowledge of community resources
  • Driver’s licence with access to a comprehensively insured vehicle and willingness to drive a service vehicle
  • Hold a current National Disability Insurance Scheme Worker Check (or be willing to obtain), Working with Children Check (paid employment) and Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011/HLTAID003)
  • Fully COVID-19 vaccinated and have received the booster shot, if eligible, or signed current medical contraindication certificate from a medical practitioner.
  • You will need to provide proof of your Right to Work in Australia and have an Android or iOS compatible smartphone

Hours

We are looking for people who are flexible in their work hours and are available to cover shifts (varying lengths), Monday to Friday, weekends and potentially overnight shifts.
