Directors x3 - Board Appointment - New England North West region

Homes North Community Housing

Are you passionate about contributing to an important cause? Do you have an interest and understanding of overseeing a business for not-for-profit purposes? Would you like to be part of a Board of Directors providing strategic leadership and management oversight and decisions? Homes North have three potential roles in this area!

We are looking for three people to join our Board of Directors, we feel that the most important quality we are seeking at this point of time is a person who has strong ties to our local communities. We are also looking for candidates with skills in any of the following areas:

  • Human Services (welfare, health or allied services)
  • Project Management
  • Business and Negotiation
  • Finance or Legal

Homes North is committed providing culturally appropriate Aboriginal services and to further build and strengthen our cultural capacity and community connectedness. A further position can be set aside for expressions of interest from Aboriginal people with less developed skills, but willing to learn more about and grow into the role of Director.

This role would strengthen the Aboriginal representation and advice on the board, and increase the pool of skills in our regional community. Ideally this person would have some abilities in the above skill list but is more importantly prepared to gain skills and be mentored by the Board.

The annual salary for this role is $9,000.

Homes North is a not-for-profit organisation serving the New England North West region, with offices located in Armidale, Glen Innes, Gunnedah, Inverell, Moree and Tamworth. Operating for over 30 years, Homes North creates secure, affordable and sensitively managed housing opportunities for low income households, striving for an integrated and inclusive approach to housing for all.

Our vision is that every community member on low-to-moderate income in the New England North West region has a secure place to call home, which they can independently sustain into the foreseeable future. Homes North wants to be the regional leader in advocating for and providing this housing.

This vision recognises the continuum of housing needs - from emergency and short-term accommodation to address homelessness, through supported and community housing, and over long-term pathways to secure and affordable home ownership.
