HOPE has been a provider of community services in Western Australia for over 120 years, providing much needed support for people in the areas of alcohol and other drugs, mental health, justice and family and domestic violence.  

About the Opportunity 

Safety Advocates will be responsible for supporting and advocating in a culturally safe manner with, and for, women and children that are experiencing family violence, ensuring they are provided with a comprehensive support service.

Requirements of the Role: 

  • Accept the referrals, undertake intake and risk/needs assessment.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate case management strategies for women and their children.
  • Engage clients, building trust, and offering one-on-one support where needed.
  • Support clients to maintain safety.
  • Facilitate and advocate access to a wide range of information, services and resources.
  • Where required make a seamless “warm” referral to other support services provided by the Alliance or external providers.
  • Ensure that all case management is in the boundaries of the Western Australian Family and Domestic Violence Common Risk.
  • Assessment and Risk Management Framework.
  • Maintain relevant documentation, verbal and written reports and internal and external data collection as required.

About you:

  • Social Service degree or diploma (desirable) and/or significant relevant experience in area.
  • Cultural skills, knowledge, and networks.
  • Knowledge and experience working with FDV.
  • Experience working with men who use violence and the survivors of family violence.

Desirable criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Western Australian Family and Domestic Violence Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework
  • Current knowledge of and commitment to Equal Opportunity in all aspects of employment and service deliver
  • Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa, satisfactory National Police check (within 3 months), Working With Children card, Current C or A class driver's license, First Aid Certificate, and suitable work referees.
