ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a dynamic team within the Brunswick West Youth Residential service providing crisis accommodation and 24/7 support to young people and young families.

On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • provide support and assistance with living skills, connections with the community, personal and social development, employment, education and training.
  • assist young people to follow up actions from their case management plans including housing, income, education and training, health and wellbeing, general living skills and recreational activities.
  • complete client file notes as needed and assist with administration duties to help operations run smoothly.

You will contribute to a safe place where young people and their children are supported to move from a situation of crisis, uncertainty and risk to a situation of calm and empowerment to make decisions about their own lives.

You will be available to work a set roster of which includes afternoon, day and weekend shifts.

ABOUT YOU

You will have:

  • a bachelor’s degree or in your final year of a Social Work, Youth Work, or relevant Social Science related qualification.
  • work experience or knowledge of youth focused practice frameworks such as strengths based or trauma informed practice.?
  • experience or knowledge of crisis accommodation settings including but not limited to youth homelessness sector knowledge or experience understanding of young people’s trauma with complex needs, including homelessness, family violence, alcohol, drugs and/or mental illness.
  • strong ability to motivate and advocate for clients to achieve outcomes.
  • strong competency using the full suite of Microsoft applications.
