Hope Street Youth and Family Services Ltd ("Hope Street") has over 40 years of experience delivering specialist services to young people and their families experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

The Youth Residential program provides crisis accommodation and 24/7 support to young people and young families who reside in the Hope Street refuge in Brunswick West. This is a safe place where young people and their children are supported to move from a situation of crisis, uncertainty and risk to a situation of calm and empowerment to make decisions about their own lives.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a positive and dedicated Youth Worker for a permanent part-time role for the Youth Residential Service. You will be available to work the set roster of 36 hours per fortnight: Tuesday, Friday 4 pm to 11:30 pm (S/O); and Wednesday, Saturday 7:30 am – 9:00 am.

On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Provide support and assistance with living skills, connections with the community, personal and social development, employment, education and training. 
  • Assist young people to follow up actions from their case management plans including housing, income, education and training, health and wellbeing, general living skills and recreational activities. 
  • Complete client file notes as needed and assist with administration duties to help operations run smoothly.
  • Motivate young clients to achieve meaningful goals and make a real difference in young people’s lives.

ABOUT YOU

  • Do you have a bachelor’s degree or are you in your final year of a Social Work, Youth Work, or relevant Social Science related qualification? 
  • Do you have demonstrated knowledge of youth focused practice frameworks such as strengths based or trauma informed practice?
  • Do you have highly developed communication skills including relationship building, problem solving and report writing?
  • Do you pride yourself on your ability to motivate and advocate for clients to achieve outcomes?
  • Are you highly competent using the full suite of Microsoft applications?
  • Are you able to maintain accurate confidential administrative records and progress notes?
