NACCHO is the national peak body representing 144 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs). In addition, they are the lead advisor to the Commonwealth Government on primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally.
ACCHSs range from large multi-functional services employing several medical practitioners and providing a wide range of services to small services which rely on Aboriginal health practitioners and/or nurses to provide the bulk of primary health care services. Their 144 members provide services from about 550 clinics.
NACCHO has seen massive growth in the last 12-18 months. This growth is due to a significant increase in their funding and the development of even closer relationships with government, membership organisations and stakeholders.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are 15 times more likely to be diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease than other Australians.

The Rheumatic Heart Disease team is a newly established team which coordinates the development of a new community-led service delivery model for the prevention and management of (ARF) and RHD. The new model will support the sector to develop and deliver key activities in response to the specific needs of their communities.
Working as part of this small and dynamic team, your duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Travelling interstate to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is involved in this role.
To be successful in this role, you will be flexible, organised and resilient. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience in the management of programs, grants or contracts within either the APS or a relevant NGO.
Strong cultural awareness is paramount to your success in this role and alignment with organisational values.
