The Opportunity

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for someone to work with us and be a part of a significant change in Victoria to end homelessness. The successful candidate will work with people experiencing homelessness and who have been placed in motels because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, assisting them into secure housing options and working with them to successfully sustain tenancies.

To fulfil this mission, we are seeking an individual who is looking for substantial job satisfaction and is passionate about supporting people to achieve better quality life outcomes.

In delivering a highly positive customer experience, you will be a part of a specialised and diverse multi-disciplinary housing and support services partnership and team, responsible for delivering professional tenancy management services to a small portfolio of clients.

This is a full-time role based in Melbourne.

About You

  • Carry out property management to approximately 100 tenancies that have complex needs resident
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team including Caseworkers, residents and external stakeholders to sustain tenancies
  • Experience or capacity dealing with people who have experienced homelessness.
  • Capacity dealing with complex and challenging clients with an ability to engage clients to collect rent in a timely manner.
  • Highly Skilled in managing disputes/complaints and/or breaches in accordance with The Residential Tenancies Act, HCA policies and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills and relationship management skills.
  • Well-developed organisational skills including the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast pace environment and works well under pressure
  • A team player who can work as a part of a team while also having the capacity to functions autonomously.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office programmers and the capacity to use/ learn new systems/databases such as housing management databases.

Desirable

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Science discipline, Public Sector Management, Social Work or related disciplines or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of tenancy, disability legislation and regulatory frameworks relating to the housing and Residential Tenancies Act.
  • Community housing sector knowledge, or property industry and tenancy management practices, RTA legislation related to administrative processes.
  • Experience dealing with complex and challenging housing management issues including eviction and court proceedings.

Please note that it is a requirement of this position that the post holder has OR willing to obtain the following:

  • National Police check
  • Current Working with Working with Children Check
  • Agreed to comply with Child Safe Environments policies and procedures
  • Current driver’s license and willingness to travel across Housing Choices’ sites as required.
