The Opportunity

We are seeking a team-oriented Housing Officer to work with our close-knit Specialist Housing Group (SHG) in Melbourne. SHG is a unique housing arm of HCA that provides Housing solutions to people with Disability or with other special needs.

The position will deliver expertise in tenancy management and housing services for people with disabilities whilst also working with other disability and community support services to assist residents / NDIS participants with obtaining and sustaining tenancies to achieve their housing goals.

This role is a permanent full-time and an ideal opportunity for a person who is passionate about social housing and supporting people with Disability.

About You

  • Qualification in social work and / or experience in client / tenancy services
  • An of understanding of Specialist Disability Accommodation
  • Experience in working with disadvantaged communities such as homeless people, people with disability and people from non-English speaking backgrounds
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills and relationship management skills
  • Well-developed organisational skills including the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Well-developed problem solving and influencing skills
  • A current certificate in Agents Representative Course or willingness to complete the course

Desirable

  • Degree in Social Sciences, Public Sector Management, Social Work or related disciplines or equivalent experience
  • Sound knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • Experience in managing a sizeable portfolio of tenancies in the public / community
  • Experience in dealing with complex and challenging client service environments

Please note that it is a requirement of this position that the post holder has OR willing to obtain the following:

  • National Police check
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Agree to comply with Child Safe Environments policies and procedures
  • Current driver’s license and willingness to travel across Housing Choices’ locations, as required
