East Coast Health owned by Glamorgan Spring Bay Council have a Practice Manager opportunity available on the stunning east coast of Tasmania to lead its practices at Triabunna and Bicheno. Applicants will have a sound understanding of the health industry together with developed or developing business skills to ensure the practice moves from a surviving to thriving operation.

By working with the health professionals and community the Practice Manager will have the scope to investigate and revise the business model for the practice. The ability to balance best practice health care models against business viability metrics will be a key focus of the position.

Aside from business improvement the Practice Manager will have the ongoing responsibility for staffing the practices both health and administration, accreditation and asset and inventory management. The Practice Manager will work closely with information technology providers to ensure systems support effective and efficient operations. Medicare management alongside coordinating Centre responses to National, State and regional health issues are also responsibilities of the role.

The practices both respond to a range of walk-in emergencies and provide first response care until other arrangements can be made. As a result, a Practice Manager that remains calm under pressure, is able to prioritise well and is solutions oriented will be the ideal candidate for the position.

At this time there are 5 Doctors across the practices, 1 Registered Nurse with another under recruitment. The administration team currently includes 5 staff. Traditionally the Practice Manager is the only role that works across both practices.

The role has previously been filled on a part-time basis and Council are willing to continue this arrangement.

Given the location of the Practices the communities they serve have traditionally been retiree focused. However recent years have seen this changing as people seek a greater work life balance and as more people realise ongoing capacity to work remotely in a pristine environment. The demographics change and swell considerably during holiday seasons.
