Centre Manager - Broome

PCYC is seeking a passionate individual to join our team as our Broome Centre Manager.

This is a unique opportunity to lead and manage a team that is focused on empowering young people to reach their full potential. You will be responsible for meeting community needs, driving recreational activities and delivering diversionary programs. You will be an ambassador for PCYC in Broome, working closely with our partners and stakeholders to ensure our Centre is safe and welcoming for young people in need.

About us

PCYC exists so that disadvantaged children and young people at risk across Western Australia have a safe place to go – somewhere they can feel at home, make friends and do things that children should do. We currently operate in 16 locations across WA, with 47 Blue Light Units in remote and rural areas where there is no PCYC Centre. Our organisation is unique through its partnership with the WA Police, and its mission is simple – to help all children and young people achieve their potential.

Your next role

The Centre Manager is responsible for the overall running and performance of the centre in accordance with PCYC’s mission and strategic objectives. You will lead a team of staff and volunteers in delivering a range of programs and activities that is reflective of community needs. You will possess strong management experience, financial acumen, analytical thinking and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

You will lead a team of committed staff members and work closely with the Regional Manager to:

  • Oversee the development of local and innovative activities and programs to attract, retain and value participants.
  • Ensure that the Centre provides a safe and welcoming place and builds the capacity of the individual.
  • Identify funding and other opportunities to support programs for vulnerable young people.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Community representatives, Police Officer(s) and colleagues and ensuring community awareness of Centre programs and activities.
  • Identify areas for improvement within Centre operations and develop recommendations for advancement and growth.
  • Assist with the development of Centre business plans and budgets and participate in budget reviews.
  • Recruit and manage staff, contractors and volunteers.

About you

  • Qualifications in management generally, Sport and Recreation management, Education or Youth Services; or demonstration of extensive experience in these fields.
  • Proven experience in leading staff in the development of business and operational plans and innovative business ideas.
  • Financial acumen (budgeting, monitoring and reporting).
  • Excellent oral and written communication, ability to represent PCYC as an ambassador in the Kimberley.
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills, ability to work closely with partners, colleagues and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Working with Children card and National Police Clearance.
