About the role:

The HSU is looking for an experienced organiser to join our Aged Care and Disabilities Division to support our members working in the disability sector. The HSU has boutique coverage in the disability sector across NSW.

The role has a high level of autonomy and responsibility. Our Disabilities Organiser will have the ability create and implement organising plans, to build delegate structures, to develop internal and external communications strategies.

Organisers in the Aged Care and Disabilities Division are part of a dynamic team who share their knowledge and experiences and are always looking to learn from each other. This supportive, open culture has been crucial in the team’s success to date.

Essential:

  • A strong commitment to trade union values and the principles of organising.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting new members and developing workplace leaders.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Industrial relations and dispute resolution skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
  • A lifelong learner
  • Valid driver’s license

Previous experience in the disability or related sectors and language skills will be looked at favourable.
