About the role:

This is a 10-month part time fixed term contract position with a start date of 2 December 2024. The HSU is excited to recruit a payroll officer to Support the union with the management of the payroll function which is the largest cost outlay for the entity. Please note that this position is an in-office role.

Responsibilities:

  • Weekly payroll processing for all staff
  • Data entry of payroll transactions into the general ledger and associated spreadsheets
  • Reconciliation of ADO, annual, FACS, sick, long service leave applications and follow up outstanding
  • Processing of staff timesheets and follow up outstanding
  • PAYG paid to the ATO weekly
  • End of month and end of year payroll reporting and monthly/yearly system rollovers
  • Monthly payroll tax calculations and yearly reconciliation for NSW & ACT & QLD
  • Weekly employee superannuation guarantee processing and payments and any other payroll deductions paid/received reconciled
  • Terminated and new employee payroll processing
  • Annual SASS salaries updated with State Super
  • Employee payment summaries processing and process files to ATO
  • Ensure employee personnel files are maintained and updated
  • Liaise with management and staff regarding payroll queries
  • Assist with the administration of the employee portal ConnX system
  • Assist with workers compensation claim reconciliations
  • Liaise with auditors as required
  • Maintain adherence with all internal and external policies and procedures
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in payroll processing and reporting
  • Experience in general ledger data entry
  • Deadline oriented and results focused
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills and the demonstrated ability to apply initiative and to problem solve
  • Self-motivated with a positive work ethic and a commitment to excellence
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and perform multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy, under minimal supervision
  • Excellent knowledge and high proficiency with current office technology and equipment including computer packages such as the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • At least 5 years’ experience working within a similar role

Desirable

  • Experience in ConnX Human Resources Portal

Remuneration:

  • $99,890 (Pro-rata) per annum + 11.5% (12% for females) Employee Superannuation Contributions
