Tendering Business Advisor

Industry Capability Network NSW

Imagine This...

You step into a role where every day you get to champion the growth of NSW businesses, empowering them to navigate the often-complex world of tendering. As a Tendering Advisor at ICN NSW, you’re not just providing advice – you’re creating pathways for local businesses to access transformative opportunities and connect to supply chains across Australia and the world.

You spend your day immersed in understanding each company’s unique strengths and potential. Your goal is to help businesses strategically position themselves to win new work – from major NSW government projects to national and private tenders. You’re the trusted advisor who brings clarity to their journey, guiding them through the ins and outs of the tendering landscape with hands-on coaching and insights they might not find elsewhere.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your work takes you across NSW, connecting with a diverse range of businesses. You begin your day with a visit to a regional manufacturing firm, assessing their capabilities and identifying what kinds of contracts could bring them steady growth. With your expertise, they can see clearly how to put their best foot forward – which tenders to target, how to approach them, and what makes their offerings stand out.

Later, you are hosting a group session for a roomful of eager business leaders. You’re delivering practical advice on navigating the government’s tender process and sharing market insights, helping them understand the various tendering opportunities across the NSW and federal landscapes. Your audience leaves feeling empowered, with a clear roadmap for how to win more business.

The day wraps up with a one-on-one consultation with a technology startup founder who’s never tendered before. You sit with her, breaking down the process, addressing her concerns, and coaching her through the first steps. By the end of the session, she feels confident, her tendering strategy is underway, and she has a real chance at the contracts that can change her business’s future.

Why This Role Matters

At ICN NSW, you’re more than an advisor – you’re a growth partner for businesses. You’re there to help NSW companies see what’s possible and develop their full potential. With each successful tender, you’re helping shape the future of local industry, creating new opportunities for innovation, jobs, and economic growth.

Who You Are

You’re a proactive, insightful professional who knows how to communicate complex strategies simply and effectively. You enjoy being a connector – a bridge between business capabilities and potential opportunities. You bring at least three years of experience in sales development and tendering, and you’re comfortable engaging with everyone from seasoned executives to first-time tenderers.
