The Inner Melbourne VET Cluster (IMVC) is a profit for purpose incorporated association established in 1998. Throughout its history, the IMVC has been at the forefront of developing best-practice initiatives and models to serve the needs of young people, providing them with endless opportunities to fulfil their potential for economic and social participation.

IMVC focuses on service delivery in Inner, Northern and Eastern Metropolitan Melbourne and is highly respected amongst schools, government, industry and the broader community; cooperatively and creatively working with these agencies to achieve real outcomes and seamless transitions for our stakeholders. 

IMVC provides a diverse suite of programs and, as such, has the unique capability to provide all its stakeholders a holistic approach to the development of skills, assets, opportunities and capabilities to:

  • Learn – participate in education and training;
  • Work – participate in employment, unpaid or voluntary work; and
  • Engage – connect with people and community.

In 2019 IMVC set up the IMVC Foundation. The Foundation’s object is to pursue the following charitable purpose(s): 

Developing best-practice initiatives, interventions, models and supports to advance the education and employment of vulnerable and marginalised people (especially youth), providing them with opportunities to fulfil their potential for economic and social participation.

 Job Purpose

The core purpose of this role is to provide leadership and direction for the IMVC Foundation. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will work closely with the Board of Directors to develop strategies to increase the profile of the IMVC Foundation and grow fundraising that supports the development of initiatives and interventions to advance the education and employment of vulnerable and marginalised people. The CEO will ensure effective implementation of the strategy, drive implementation and report on results. 

The position has a high degree of autonomy and requires the incumbent to have substantial fundraising and management experience, a talent for building relationships and a proven track record in securing funds from statutory sources, foundations, trusts and major donors.

Key Selection Criteria 

Formal Qualifications

  • A relevant post‐graduate qualification (eg Business/Communications)

Experience

  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Strong strategic capability
  • Proven ability of achieving organisational goals
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and stakeholder management
  • Knowledge and experience of NFP sector especially a small not for profit organisation

Skills and Attributes

  • Demonstrated high level capacity to support Board of Directors to effectively optimise financial, physical and human resources
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a co-operative, purposeful and inclusive working environment
  • Demonstrated capacity to broker constructive and respectful partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated executive management experience within business development, fundraising and donor engagement        
  • Ability to balance and prioritise competing strategic and operational interest
  • Personal skills such as relationship building, influencing and coaching
  • Demonstrated high level capacity to support Board of Directors to effectively optimise financial, physical and human resources
  • Commitment to Child Safety: Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children, and of children with diverse needs and/or backgrounds.
