An exciting opportunity exists for a Program Lead to join Nossal Institute Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary company of the University of Melbourne. Join this talented, multi-disciplinary team who work to improve the health and futures of communities worldwide through global health research, education, and inclusive developments. 

A contract role for a minimum of 9 months up to 12 months, you will ideally work full time, but 0.8 will be considered for the right candidate. Flexible working arrangements are offered in this hybrid working role based in the CBD.

Reporting to the COO, you will utilise your extensive experience in the management of overseas development projects funded by international donors and ability to manage the end-to-end development of submissions for new funding to manage and support the portfolio of contracts (including legal, risk, project finances).

You will have demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring teams including staff supervision as well as a sound understanding of budgeting and financial management.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • Oversight and quality assurance of the preparation of Expressions of Interest, Proposals and Tenders
  • Manage the allocation of submissions for funding across the Programs team
  • Coordinate and manage large and complex funding submissions
  • Management of the funding opportunity tracking function for the Institute
  • Provide oversight, leadership and risk management across the portfolio of contracts
  • Lead, guide and supervise the Programs team members and manage program quality
  • Oversee the management of finances across the breadth the portfolio of contracts and coordination from Programs to Finance to ensure mutual support to the management of project budgets including expenditure and resource tracking
  • A demonstrated understanding of the principles of global health and international development and experience working in a not for profit environment will be highly regarded.

A relevant degree, professional qualification or professional experience equivalent, with experience in program management and business management in a research environment is also essential.
