About the opportunity

Reporting to the Group Manager Employment Support, you will manage a small team (3-4 direct reports) that is responsible for attracting, inducting, training, and supporting employees, managing the employee database and all communication with family and carers. You will:

  • Lead our employee support team to deliver the very best outcomes for our employees ensuring their wellbeing, goals achievement and productivity
  • Support and develop in-house trainers and mentor staff with professional training and development
  • Contribute to the development of pathways to mainstream employment and assist with the development and implementation of processes to enhance growth and positive outcomes for our employees.
  • Contribute to planning and decision making within the organisation.
  • Together with the team, ensure that employee’s plans and goals under the NDIS are being fulfilled within our diverse programs and services
  • Contribute to Ability Works reaching its target over the next 2-3 years of creating a further 100 jobs

Key Requirements

  • Formal qualifications in community services or disability and experience working with people with disabilities and/or other barriers to employment in the community services or a related field
  • Knowledge of the NDIS (support coordination or comparable experience), including the ability to understand funding models and negotiate with relevant bodies around funding
  • Proven program management experience and competency in MS Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and various other software applications).
  • Positive and solution focused with empathetic and respectful management of conflict
  • Valuing diversity, and building inclusive environments where people experience belonging
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills – with the ability to interact and collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organisation
  • Conscientious, reliable, achievement oriented with a strong sense of duty and responsibility for results
