About Us

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and delivery of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland.

The Quality and Innovation team provides clinical oversight and support t IUIH member services and is responsible for the service development and delivery of urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and family wellbeing care. This diverse team includes IUIH Data and Research, Logistics, Oral Health, Pharmacy, Policy, Social Health, and Regional Clinical Support. 

About the Role

As a Medical Receptionist Reliever in our IUIH and Member Services clinic, you will play an important role in our service delivery. Within this role you will provide quality customer service, effective and efficient administrative support and you will play an integral role in our overall patient engagement and attendance.

  • Previous experience in an administrative role within the Healthcare industry
  • Demonstrated ability to meet targets and performance outcomes
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Officer Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Previous experience using patient information systems (MMEX)
  • Ability to communicate, engage effectively and work together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Proven ability to prioritise and organise workload with a high attention to detail
  • Drivers Licence
  • Criminal History Check (willing to obtain one)
  • Willingness to travel across the Brisbane SEQ region

About You

  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary clinic environment.
  • Previous experience working with an electronic Patient Management System e.g., MMEx (electronic medical appointment system)
  • Willingness to undertake WH&S training
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, engage effectively and work together, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and actively contribute to the team.
  • Experience to manage multiple deadlines and workloads
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
  • Current Blue Card (Willing to obtain)
  • Current Yellow Card (Willing to obtain)
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Must have at least Dose 1 of the Covid-19 vaccine prior to commencement

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  •  Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
