About Us

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and delivery of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland.

Regional Services is our Allied Health team who are dedicated to managing the physical and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across South East Queensland. We offer several services within the IUIH network to Community including the Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy, Audiology, Dietetics, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Diabetes Educators, Transitional Services and much more.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Podiatrist to join the IUIH high performing team. Within this role, you will be providing direct culturally appropriate podiatry services to  Community across multiple clinic locations and contribute to new and existing initiatives to further develop the Podiatry model.

  • 6 Month part time contract available from Sept 2021
  • Provide clinical services to clients and appropriate clinical care including biomechanical, general care, surgery, diabetic foot care, paediatric, community education and provision of orthotics and appropriate footwear
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals including allied health, GPs, Aboriginal Health Workers, Care Coordinators and more
  • Liaise with health professionals including General Practitioners on patient care and provide reports to referring GP’s in accordance with Medicare requirements
  • Ensure information is recorded accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic health record system, and that records are maintained in accordance with AGPAL standards
  • Ensure maintenance of privacy and confidentiality in relation to client information
  • Actively maintain knowledge of the application of the MBS relevant to your job role and ensure information about completed MBS items is effectively captured for accurate processing of claims

About You

Essentials:

  • Willingness to travel
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence (QLD)
  • Relevant degree in Podiatry
  • APHRA Registration
  • Current First Aid and CPR

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities.
