The Organisation

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation focused on mental health training and research. MHFA courses teach members of the public how to provide initial help to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional help is received, or the crisis resolves.

COVID-19 has presented immense challenges for the community, and the continued dissemination of their evidence-based courses into the community has never been more important.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, the Director Program Quality & Delivery’s primary purpose is to ensure that the programs and courses are fit for purpose, consistent, and meet both external and internal requirements, encompassing any regulatory compliance and customer expectations. Leading a team of professional staff across a range of functions including Customer Experience, Instructor and Course Quality you will plan, and deliver MHFA Australia’s annual Training program.

The role aims for continuous improvement initiatives arising from product and process related deviations or customer feedback that ensure the MHFA Australia’s key product proposition, service and product offerings are establishing the organisation as a best practice learning provider.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide overall expertise in developing and delivering MHFA Australia’s annual Training Program of Instructor and MHFA courses nationally
  • Oversee and manage MHFA’s Customer Service function, ensuring cohesive and high-quality customer and participant experiences are consistently delivered in accordance with the MHFA Operational Plan.
  • Provide guidance and advice to the Chief Executive Officer on the challenges and opportunities for the growth and development of the MHFA’s Quality & Delivery Programs

The Person

With a commitment to evidence-based practice in mental health, you have:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mental Health, Adult Learning, Human Resource Management, or another relevant discipline
  • Significant experience in the development and delivery of adult education curriculum materials.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability, particularly for delivery to people outside the mental health sector
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex situations including conflict resolution that may involve psychological, behavioural and emotional issues.
