Jesuit Social Services has a history of investing in programs to support people to transition into education, training and jobs. Both experience and research tells us that one of the most reliable pathways out of disadvantage and most effective ways of connecting with the broader community is through employment.

Employment Services is Jesuit Social Service’s major activity to help disadvantaged Victorian jobseekers gain employment. These services are delivered by specialist employment experts who work closely with employers to identify job opportunities and prepare job seekers for those roles.

About the role

As a Support Officer, you will be responsible for providing support across Jesuit Community College Employment programs and other Education, Training and Employment teams.

You will be responsible for providing support and/or referrals to appropriate internal and external support services for participants experiencing barriers, engaging with local support services to establish pathways for referrals, assisting with the operational activities ensuring sensitive and confidential information in the database is efficiently managed.

This is a contract role until the 31st of July 2022.

Candidate Requirements

This role will suit a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in youth work or other community services.
  • Understanding of administrative support in a not-for-profit environment is desired but not essential
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with various computer programs such as MS Office
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills including the ability to identify, analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Capacity to fulfil reporting and administrative requirements associated with the position
  • Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Growth mindset to engage with the development opportunities as part of the workplace experience
  • Effective liaison and networking skills
  • Understanding and sympathy with the mission and ethos of Jesuit Social Services
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Valid Working with Children Check card
  • Successfully completed Police Check. Police Check will be conducted prior commencement by Jesuit Social Services
